Leave your nonessential things there for safekeeping so you do not lose track of your bags. And before heading out for a night on the town, find a Denver luggage storage service. Needless to say he was NOT impressed with Denver. The Mile High City does not roll up its sidewalks when the sun goes down, instead, the city comes alive with amazing things to do at night! This trendy city may be most famous for its outdoor activities and is a haven for adventure-seekers, but its restaurants, museums, and craft breweries really should not be missed.įinding things to do in Denver at night isn't a hard task keep reading and you will find several things that are more out-of-the-box than the typical sporting event, concert, bar, or eatery. I was embarrassed that I took my friend to such a disappointing place. I was expecting a busy, fun, lively atmosphere especially because the Avs were on the cusp of possibly winning the Stanley Cup, because it is marketed as a "must see" area if you are in Denver, and because it was a beautiful sunny summer day in a major city that attracts lots of tourists.Ĭome on Denver/Larimer Square you can do better.MUCH better. I have no idea why Larimer Square gets so many positive reviews and why the city of Denver hypes it up so much. We were just looking for a casual place to eat a light lunch, but there was no such place. The only restaurants were higher end and very expensive. There was lot of scaffolding/construction that blocked the store fronts/restaurants. Not much was open and what was open was empty. I thought it would be a fun and lively place to take him to show off the city since the Avs were 3-1 in the Stanley Cup Finals and Larimer Square seemed to be very supportive of the Avs and in the spirit of the Stanley Cup Finals with flags of the players' jerseys hanging overhead. Went to Larimer Square yesterday for lunch with a friend who was from out of town (I live in the Denver suburbs). Parking is expensive downtown so be prepared and most side streets don’t allow parking by anyone except the residents.ĭenver is a beautiful town with lots of history. I actually feel safer parking in one of the open lots and walking. From what I can tell there are few attendants in the garage and I don’t feel safe. The museum has a great parking garage but I won’t park in it. I know they are working on moving these individuals out of the area (hopefully to places that are safer for them as well) but at the time of this review it’s still an ongoing issue. There were encampments all over Civic City Park the last time I was down there. The park and the steps around the capital are two areas where there are a lot of homeless people. That said I would be careful around the Capital and Civic City Park, both of which are just to the north of the museum. While I wouldn’t walk it at night alone you should be ok during the day. If you’re a whiskey connoisseur you’ll love this pub. And about 1/2 a block away will bring you to an amazing little pub called Pub On Penn. To the West of the museum is the Molly Brown house. ![]() ![]() The Denver Art museum is a must see and the Denver Public Library across the street is worth a walk through. The Art Deco architecture is a treasure.Ĭapital Hill area during the day ‘should’ be ok but you want to be aware of your surroundings anywhere downtown. I still prefer that area during the day but there’s tons to see and do and make sure you pop into the train station. It’s worth a night on the town or a lazy Sunday lunch.Īlso the area around Union Station is much better then it once was. I love when they have festivals and block of Larimer. There are so many good restaurants and great places to hang out. It’s fun, vibrant and has a great urban vibe. ![]() Larimer has been my go-to destination for years. Larimer Square is definitely one of those spots. I realize though that I would be remiss in not pointing out some of the better areas in downtown. I cautioned travelers to avoid that area. I recently left a review about downtown Denver and primarily the 16th Street Mall.
